GOLD MEDAL - Australian Cool Climate Wine Awards
Very varietal nose, with clean, bright aromas of lime and blossom. The palate is weighty and full, but has a delicious minerality which complements the sweet fruit. The finish is long and pure, with a lovely balance maintained throughout.
The colour is pure light gold / lemon. The nose is intensely lifted and citrusy, with notes of lemongrass, freshly chopped mint and slate. Very concentrated focused wine on the palate, strongly directional, and assertive.
This wine shows the characteristics of its big brother with the exception that colour and flavour density (mid-palate) are slightly reduced.
This wine shows all the expected characteristics of a premium Central Otago Pinot noir, although interestingly, 2008 was the most "Burgundian" vintage we have experienced. Colour is a rich plummy red, and flavour comprises plums, cherries, and berries, with a background of liquorice, mushrooms and spice. The silky, velvety tannins complete the experience of this stunning wine.
A bouquet of forest floor, raspberry, spice and dark chocolate with subtle oak leads into a soft appealing palate with excellent length.
GOLD MEDAL - San Francisco International Wine Competition
Excellent colour is the trademark of this label, and it is no different in 2008. The desire for low impact macerations is evident on the nose, with a lovely fragrance of violets, stewed plum, anise and cinnamon. On the palate, there is a lightness of touch and elegance that unfolds in layers on the finish. Overall the impression remains of long silken intensity. GOLD MEDAL - Bragato Wine Awards
