History

Old House Wines:

Old House Wines was founded in 2000/2001 to specialise in the importation and distribution of fine wines from South Africa. The South African wine industry has been going through a period of tremendous change.

The scene has evolved from an inward looking market dominated by great co-operatives, with little interest in exports to its present situation. New wineries are being opened and are now established: modern viticulture and winemaking techniques are being used. Export markets are now vital with a desire to be judged against the best in the world.

Hard To Find Wines:

Hard to Find Wines has established during 2006 as we have broadened our horizons to other parts of the wine producing world.

We now import wines from Australia, New Zealand and Italy. Though our list is dominated by some fantastic South African wines, we would like to add to our portfolio, wines from around the world of the same quality. All the vineyards we represent in the UK are hand picked for exclusivity, and can generally not be found in any other retail outlets: although a few lucky restaurants have added our wines to their lists.

Our wines are notoriously 'hard to find' because we rarely work with vineyards who supply to supermarket and restaurant chains. Many of our customers have been to the vineyards or countries we represent and 'discovered our wines' away from home. Hard to Find Wines since April have now also been importing from Spain, and some fantastic Californian wines are on the water as we speak, and are due in by September 2008.
