Using grapes picked by hand from 40 year old vines, and matured in French Oak for two years.
Only 6 bottles remaining of this 2001 vintage.
Certainly around peak and will be declining over next few years. Vibrancy of fruit and oaking have made way for wonderful suppleness with soft vanilla elements leading to a smooth but lingering end. Integration and complexity has merged beautifully, a perfect accompaniment to lighter meat dishes, possibly more of a food wine now than quaffing. Well worth trying one of these last few bottles.
