When Sir Ernest Shackleton commenced his famous expedition in 1907, he ordered 25 cases of Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt Whisky to take with him. One hundred years later, eleven intact bottles containing the perfectly preserved whisky where discovered under the ice. This is an exact replica of the whisky left in Antarctica by Sir Ernest Shackleton during his Antarctic expedition between 1907 and 1909. The whisky was recreated down to the very last detail by Whyte and Mackay’s blender extraordinaire, Richard Paterson. The final replica bottle of Mackinlay’s blend contains whiskies from Speyside, the Island, and the Highlands, and the recipe even includes some very rare 1983 Glen Mhor!
