After the success of our first Icons wine case, we have now moved to New Zealand with a mix of their very best wines. The 6 bottle case includes:
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2013
Without doubt the most iconic and famous of all NZ vineyards. For over a decade this has been the Marlborough Sauvignon all others have been measured against with its grassy nose and fresh gooseberry tones.
Pegasus Bay Riesling 2010
Neal Martin from Robert Parker described this vineyard as one of the country's most exciting producers. Located in Waipara, this Riesling is not that far removed from a Spatlese from Pfalz, with plenty of greenage and apple on the nose along with a fruit packed palate.
Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2013/p>
Rated 93/100 and one of Jamie Goode from thewineanarok favourite NZ wines. Another Marlborough entry, perhaps not as intense as the Cloudy Bay, hints of pepper and citrus on the nose, with apple, kiwi and passion fruit on the palate. Well balanced in acidity and structure.
Gibbston Valley China Terrace Pinot Noir 2009
From the first vineyard in Central Otago to ever plant Pinot Noir, this wine comes from the oldest vines in the region and has won numerous gold medals along with Michael Cooper's 5 star rating. Deep red, complex nose and supple fruits - an outstanding representation of New Zealand Pinot.
Villa Maria Reserve Pinot Noir
Founded in 1961 this is the most awarded winery in the country, producing everything from table wines to this premium reserve wine. An International Wine and Spirit Competition winner, this is a very different beast to the Central Otagan Pinots with a much more Old World styling.
Man O War Dreadnught Syrah 2009
A relative newcomer having only been founded in the mid 90's, but already at the heart of Waiheke Island wine growing. A rich Syrah showing ripe fruits, blue berries and black pepper. Still aging well but drinking nicely already!
