Hard To Find Wines offers a range of quality fortified wines including sherry, port and madeira. They are produced by adding grape spirit to still wine, typically up to 20% alcohol content by volume. This means that the bottled product keeps better (and more easily), yet can still be enjoyed with a range of foods. Sometimes extra sweeteners are added, as in the case of sweet sherry. Port is primarily produced in Portugal, as the name suggests, whereas French port is sometimes called ‘vin doux naterel’.
Fortified wines can be selected to accompany aperitifs and desserts; in particular cheese or nuts in addition to cream or chocolate-based puddings and fruit tart.
