Light or bold, from Bladen Pinot Gris to Zorgvliet Sauvignon Blanc, white wines are a versatile complement for vegetable dishes. Richer vintages from the white grape go well with recipes based on a creamy sauce, particularly with white fish, meat and poultry.
Some other lighter meat dishes including grilled lamb chops or Lancashire hotpot are also very palatable with a lighted oak white, perhaps Italian or French. Alternatively, if you are serving spicy cuisine such as an Indian dish, sweet white wines are a good accompaniment (perhaps to calm the taste buds!) and, of course, as a dessert wine.
