Tahbilk is wothout doubt one of Australia’s leading boutique wineries and is one of the twelve iconic family owned vineyards that came together as Australia’s First Families of Wine.
Tahbilk Winery was founded all the way back in 1860 and has some of the oldest ungrafted Shiraz vines in the world. Tahbilk is an aboriginal word taken from ‘Tabilk-tabilk’ - which translates as ‘place of many wateringholes’ apt with the vineyard at Tahbilk being located in the unique Nagambie Lakes region of central Victoria. These bodies of water provide a cooler climate than that in Victoria and aids in the growing of their French Rhone varietals.
A true family estate, Tahbilk has been passed down through 5 generations of the Purbrick family, and is currently in the hands of Alistair Purbrick.
