Muratie South African Wine
Cobwebs and rustic charm are in abundance at Muratie Estate, one of the oldest vineyards in South Africa on the rocky slopes of Stellenbosch. Rijk Melck is the current custodian of the vineyard, but for many years the Muratie name has been synonymous with quality South African wine.
The premium range of Muratie wines are best left to mature for a few years, allowing them to develop in complexity although the Melck’s range of wines are ready to drink fresh from the vineyard. In addition to their impeccable range of red and white wines, Muratie also produces a luxurious port style Cape Ruby wine alongside a sticky sweet wine named Amber Forever.
The tasting room is cosy and inviting with Rijk and his tasting room staff always on hand to guide the willing oenophile through their range of wines, whilst for the lucky ones, sampling some of their home cooked food. If you are looking for top quality South African wines, you would be hard pushed to better those from Muratie.
